Why soy candles need a trimmed wick every time
Soy wax is softer and has a “memory.” An untrimmed wick burns too hot and too tall. That leads to:
• soot on the glass and in the air
• mushrooming (a black carbon cap on the wick)
• a large, flickering flame
• uneven melt pools and tunneling
• wasted wax and a shorter life for the candle
A properly trimmed wick gives a steady, moderate flame. The melt pool reaches the edges more evenly, fragrance throws better, and you get more hours from the same candle. Do it when the wax is completely cool — before you strike the match, every time.
